Kalpeshwar Mahadev temple dedicated to lord Shiva and hair locks (jata) of Shiva worshipped is one of the Panch Kedar Pilgrimages in Dev Bhoomi Uttarakhand state of India. Situated in Chamoli district 2,134 meters above sea level, Kalpeshwar temple is one of the best places for meditation in Uttarakhand Himalayas. Kalpeshwar is the only Panch Kedar pilgrimage open throughout the year.

Kalpeshwar temple has a small stone idol of lord Shiva. Nearby the temple is a cave upon which is the image of hair locks beautifully and naturally carved. These are considered to be the hair locks of lord Shiva that appeared in Kalpeshwar when he vanished from the forceful hands of second Pandava ‘Bhima’. Kedarnath, Madhyamaheshwar, Rudranath and Tungnath are the other four Panch Kedar pilgrimages.

From Helong to Urgham village is a jeep-able road and the distance is 10Km. From Urgham village in Urgham valley begins the trek.
