District Guide

There are total 13 districts in Uttarakhand, popularly known as Dev Bhooomi Uttarakhand, under Kumaon and Garhwal divisions. The districts on eastern part come under Kumaon division while the districts on western part come under the Garhwal division. Three of the districts, namely Pithoragarh, Champawat and Udham Singh Nagar are the border to neighboring country Nepal, three districts namely Pithoragarh, Chamoli and Uttarkashi are the border to neighboring country China on North, Uttarkashi and Dehradun are the border to Himanchal Pradesh of India and Dehradun, Haridwar, Pauri Garhwal and Udham Singh Nagar are the border to Uttaranchal of India.

 

Division of districts in Uttarakhand as Kumaon and Garhwal:

Kumaon Division: Champawat, Pithoragarh, Udham Singh Nagar, Nainital, Almora and Bageshwar.

Garhwal Division: Chamoli, Pauri Garhwal, Rudraprayag, Tehri Garhwal, Haridwar, Uttarkashi and Dehradun.

New Districts: Didihat, Ranikhet, Kotdwar and Yamunotri declared by the the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Ramesh Pokhriyal on 15th August 2011.

Though the new 4 districts are declared, these districts are not separated in Census 2011 and so the details are not available as per the new district wide distribution of population and others.
